44.5m afghanis projects inaugurated in Samangan

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Two reconstructioninfo-icon projects worth 44.55 million afghanis were put into service after their completion in northern Samangan province on Monday.

Government officials including the governor and Uzbekistan ambassador to Afghanistaninfo-icon Bitimov Omirtay were among those attending the projects’ inauguration ceremony in Aibak, the provincial capital.

Speaking on the occasion, provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director Eng Abdul Rab Hakimi said the projects included a retaining wall in Qush Asiab village of Aibak.

The 580-meter long and eight-meter high wall would help protect hundreds of acres of agricultureinfo-icon land and dozens of people’s properties from floodwaters.

Hakimi said the second project was construction of a 20-meter bridge on Aibak river in Choghi village.

The two projects cost in total 44 million and 5, 5000afs provided by the Kazakhstan government.

Samangan governor Abdul Latif Ibrahimi told  the ceremony that they highly appreciated the Kazakhstan envoy for his efforts and support for development projects in Samangan.

Bitimov Omirtay, Kazakh ambassador to Afghanistan who attended the ceremony, said his country would continue assisting Samagan province in its development.
