FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A woman has been beheaded by Taliban in the insurgent-controlled Baharak district of northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Monday.
Sunaullah Roohani, police spokesman, confirming the predawn incident to Pajhwok Afghan News, identified the woman as Khadija, who hailed from Khusdari district. The motive behind her killing is yet to be known.
However, Warduj district’s administrative chief Dawlat Mohammad Khawar linked the woman’s decapitation to a family dispute.
On the other hand, the Taliban denied having hand in the beheading of Khadija, saying they took actions only in compliance with orders from insurgent courts.
