Poland promises sending more troops to Afghanistan

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Polish president on Tuesday assured Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah of sending more troops to Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Currently, about 13,500 foreign troops are stationed in Afghanistan as part of NATOinfo-icon’s Resolute Support (RS) mission.The international troops include 192 Polish soldiers.

In a statement, Abdullah’s office, said the CEO discussed expansion of bilateral cooperation during his meeting in Kabul with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

Abdullah commended Duda for Poland’s military cooperation with Afghanistan and urged him to boost troop contribution, according to the statement.

The Polish leader promised his country would boost the number of troops for training and advising Afghan forces in the framework of the Resolute Support Mission.

Poland would continue supporting Afghanistan politically and militarily, pledged Duda, who did not reveal the number of additional soldiers being sent to the war-devastated country.

Afghanistan and Poland will celebrate its 90th anniversary of their diplomatic and political relations at a special ceremony during the ongoing year.
