Constructive talks to help resolve issues: Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Constructive and positive government-to-government dialogue can help resolve long-standing problems between Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon, Kabul says.

Shah Hussein Murtazavi, acting spokesman for President Ashraf Ghani, said the Pakistani prime minister arrived today in Kabul at the head of a high-level delegation.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was in talks with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and other senior government officials at the Presidential Palace, he added.

Regional cooperation on trade and transit, joint efforts for peace and the fight against terrorist groups came up for discussion at the meeting, the spokesman explained.

Murtazavi said the Afghan government hoped constructive and positive talks could help resolve the long-running issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Pakistani embassy in Kabul has also voiced its optimism the prime minister's visit would open a new chapter of goodwill, friendship and brotherhood between the neighbours.
