Work on hospital buildings launched in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work has been launched on new buildings for two hospitals in Muqar and Gilan districts of southern Ghzani province, the governor said on Sunday.

Abdul Karim Mateen told Pajhwok Afghan News a 30-bed hospital was being established in Maqur district at a cost of 14 million afghanis.

With a mobile clinic already in place, two others hospitals have also been put into service in Gadakhel and Akhond localities of the Maqur district.

The governor said some medical equipment worth four million afghanis was being prepared to provide healthcare facilities for residents.

Niak Mohammad, a resident of Maqur district, said: “Our district is pullulated and by construction of such buildings, people’s healthcare issue would be reduced.”

He further added the district was situated along the Kabulinfo-icon-Kandahar highway and most of the time victims of traffic accidents were brought to the district center.

Governor Mateen said two hospital buildings were put into service in Jahankir and Watali localities of Gilian district and construction work on a third one was underway in Janda locality of the district.

Dr. Zahir Sha Niakmal, the provincial director healthinfo-icon, said these buildings cost 14 million afghanis.

He said: “We have been trying our best to provide more healthcare facilities and services to people.”

 Izzatullah, a resident of Janda area, said the government should provide medical equipment and appoint doctors besides constructing new buildings.
