PUL-I-LAM (Pajhwok): Thirty schools including those of girls have been reopened in central Logar province after remaining closed for eleven days, an official said Wednesday.

Logar educationinfo-icon director Abdul Wakil Kaliwal told Pajhwok Afghan News that the schools were reopened as a result of joint efforts by tribal elders, religious scholars and the government.

He said the militants had closed the 30 schools of girls’ and boys’ in Sarkh district.

However, Education Department spokesman Mohammad Shapur Arab said that the militants closed the schools in retaliation to an Afghan forces operation on a home.

“All these schools have reopened and students can attend classes and continue their education,” he added.

Arab said the closure affected more than 11,436 students, including 2,262 girls in the schools including primary, middle and high.

The Talibaninfo-icon have not commented about the issue in Logar province where 309 schools operate in total.
