KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah has said if the voter registration process fails, it would confront the political process with challenges.

Addressing an extra-ordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, the CEO hoped the voters’ registration process would end successfully.

About video meetings of government leaders with provincial governors and officials of the Independent Election Commission (IECinfo-icon), Abdullah said proper awareness regarding the voters’ registration process was yet to be undertaken.

The CEO expressed his satisfaction with security arrangements for the electoral process and said security forces had put in place all necessary arrangements for making the process a success.

He said the voter registration process was one of the major points of the electoral reform and the demand of local and foreign watchdogs.

Abdullah said the success of future elections relied on a successful implementation of voter registration process and warned if the process failed, the coming political events would face challenges.

The CEO added the voters’ registration process was a national process and its success was government’s and public’s joint responsibility.
