PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Islamabad welcomes any initiative that can bring peace and stability to Afghanistaninfo-icon, says the Pakistaninfo-icon army chief.

Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, during his visit to Russia, said the entire region would benefit from efforts for stabilising Afghanistan.

Gen. Bajwa on Wednesday met Chief of General Staff of Russian Armed Forces Valery Vasilevich Gerasimov, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

"We have no hostile designs on any country and will keep working towards a cooperative regional framework based on sovereign equality," he said.

Gerasimov said Russia supported Pakistan’s efforts for reconciliation and peace in Afghanistan. Moscow was willing to play a role in Pakistan's initiatives, he said.
