KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Solidarity Party (ASP) on Thursday termed the 7th and 8th of Saur solar month (April 27th and April 28th) as “shameful days” in Afghanistaninfo-icon’s history, saying elections were no remedy to the four-decades-old conflict until warlords were in power.

Dozens of people attended a rally the party staged in Shahr-i-Naw Park in Kabul against the 1978 coup and the subsequent Soviet occupation of the country.

They were chanting slogans ‘we should cleanse away the shame of April 27th and 28th,’ ‘elections are occupied, corrupt and mafia figures ridiculing democracy.”

A number of the protestors had their faces covered with photos of former jihadiinfo-icon figures and current leaders of the government and tied their hands in chains to ask people to break their silence against injustices.

Sili Ghafar, head of ASP, told reporters that people would never forget the perpetrators of the Seventh and Eight of Saur events.

“The leaders of jihadi parties murdered 70,000 people in Kabul, they should be brought to justice by people themselves and avenge the blood of thousands of lives,” she said.

Ghafar denounced what happened on the two historic days and those maneuvering behind the scenes.

She called the current government as ‘puppet’ and said the perpetrators of all miseries of the Afghans were jihadi leaders, communists and the Talibaninfo-icon.

“The US and the West use these jihadi leaders for implementing their own plans because these leaders are power hungry and they sell the country for wealth and resources”, she concluded.
