More than 320 Afghan nationals deported from Turkey

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Hundreds of illegal Afghan migrants have been deported from the Aegean region of Turkey, a media report said on Sunday.

Around 324 undocumented Afghans, detained in the Aegean province of İzmir, have been sent back to their country, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

The arrests came during operations to curb human trafficking, according to the report, which said 49 unregistered Syrians were rounded up in Balekesir province. 

Another 38 Syrians, who were trying to cross into Greece, in the Mediterranean province of Antalya, were also rounded up.

In mid-April, about 20,000 undocumented  Afghans are said to have reached Turkey over the past three months.

As many as 17,847 of them been captured by security forces. The migrants come to Turkey via Iran, through the eastern provinces of Van, Iğdır, Ağrı and Hakkari.
