KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): New Delhi says it is in contact with Kabul on the abduction of seven Indian citizens in northern Afghanistaninfo-icon.

The Indian engineers and their Afghan driver were kidnapped in Baghlan province on Sunday. Gunmen kidnapped them near Pul-i-Khumri on their way to a power station.

"We are aware of the abduction of Indian nationals in Baghlan. We are in contact with the Afghan authorities and further details are being ascertained," the foreign ministry in Delhi said.

Gunmen seized the Indians from a vehicle on the outskirts of the Baghlan capital. Governor Abdul Hai Nemati has blamed the Talibaninfo-icon for the kidnappings.

The engineers have been hired by the power utility, the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat which operates the power station in northern Baghlan.
