PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): After Pakistaninfo-icon, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, Afghanistaninfo-icon will be the fourth team to play their maiden Test match against India.

Afghanistan gained full membership of the International Cricket Council in June 2017, when Ireland was also admitted as full member of ICC.

Ajinkya Rahane will captain India for the Test match against Afghanistan, which begins on June 14 in Bengaluru, in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli.

Kohli will be playing for Surrey in June to prepare for the Test series against England, which is scheduled to begin on August 1. India will play three T20 matches and as many one-day games against England.

On Tuesday, the Indian selection committee announced the following team for the Afghanistan Test:

Ajinkya Rahane (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Karun Nair, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma, Shardul Thakur.

Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are missing from India’s Test squad. All the four players are included in the A+ category.
