KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Nine Afghan National Army (ANA) troops have been killed in a Talibaninfo-icon attack in Dashti Archi district of northern Kunduz province, an official said Sunday.

The Dashi Archi district police chief, Niaz Mohammmad Omarkhel, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban militants attacked the district’s center and several security check-points late Saturday night.

The rebels killed eight ANA soldiers and one local policeman and wounded another five ANA service members, he added. He had no information about Taliban’s causalities.

A local police commander, who wished to go unnamed, confirmed the nighttime attack which he said was carried out by Taliban’s red unit.

The Taliban also confirmed the yesterday’s attack, with their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claiming the fighters killed 12 security forces and wounded two others.
