Security in Faryab government’s top priority: Ghani

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has said maintaining security in northern Faryab province has been his government’s top priority.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said the president talked to Faryab civil and military officials via a video link at the Tawhid National Center at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday evening.

Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, a number of security organ officials, the governor of Faryab, provincial civil and military leaders were present at the conference.

The meeting reviewed Faryab’s overall security situation and the president was updated on problems and challenges they faced.

Afghan National Army’s 209 Shaheen Corps commander Gen. Amanullah Mubin interpreted plans and measures being taken to improve security situation in Faryab.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO Abdullah said practical steps should be taken line with the reports presented at the meeting.

After listening to the reports, the president remarked that maintaining security in all provinces, especially in Faryab, was the government’s top priority.

He asked civil and military officials of Faryab province to give priority to problems concerning them and intensity their efforts at improving the situation.

The supreme commander of the armed forces praised gains of the forces and said the gains should be persistent.

The president said no terrorist group, especially Daesh, would be given the space to operate in Afghanistaninfo-icon.
