KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah on Saturday strongly condemned bomb blasts that killed eight people at a stadium in eastern Nangarhar province.

Three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) went off at the stadium late on Friday when a Ramadaninfo-icon cricket event was underway. Eight people were killed and 45 others wounded.

In a statement from the Presidential Palace, Ghani called the attack a cowardly act that was against all Islamic teachings and human values. The killing of innocent civilians was an un-Islamic and inhuman act, he said.

However, the president added, such evil acts would not undermine the determination of the Afghan people to move forward and protect their country.

Separately, CEO Abdullah denounced as barbaric the triple bombing that targeted innocent civilians. The Talibaninfo-icon and others rebel groups never showed respect to womeninfo-icon, children and youth, he alleged.

The Taliban have denied involvement in the overnight explosions. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the blasts in Jalalabad, lying on the border with Pakistaninfo-icon.
