It’s time for generational change in public offices: Ghani

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday said it was the time of youth leadership and generational change in offices as he introduced new head of the Office of Administrative Affairs of the Presidential Palace.

Sayed Wahid Qatali was introduced as the head of Office of Administrative Affairs of the President at a ceremony at the palace.

Ghani said main reason why he chose Qatali was his ability to ensure a healthy cooperation environmentinfo-icon while serving in the Herat municipality.

“The role of the Office of Administrative Affairs has changed and so has the Presidential Palace after it was converted into an institution from an individual-centric place, so this institution is no longer dependent on the president only,” he said.

He said the Presidential Palace was not related to a specific part of the country but to all people of Afghanistaninfo-icon and it must be accountable to the public.

The president said plans for development, strengthening national unity and relations were being prepared at the Presidential Palace and then implemented by the societyinfo-icon.

“Today is the time of youth, our basic mandate is to bring about a generational change in offices, because this generation is responsible for prosperity and stability of Afghanistan,” Ghani said.

The president also thanked former head of the Office of Administrative Affairs, Daud Noorzai, for his services and recruiting qualified people in the office.

Noorzai thanked Ghani for supporting youth leadership in offices and said most of the offices were currently being managed by youth and Qatali was one of them.

He said the youth were employed based on merit not relations or favoritism in the national unity government.

Sayed Abdul Wahid Qatali thanked the president for reposing trust in the youth and providing them job opportunities and said he would lead the Office of Administrative Affairs while considering to the president’s views.
