NSAs agree on effective enforcement of APAPPS

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Top security advisors from Pak­istan and Afghanistaninfo-icon call peace their common goal and the biggest need of the hour.

The natio­nal security advisers agreed peace could be achieved through sincere implementation of the Afghanistan-Pakistaninfo-icon Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS).

During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Sunday, Hanif Atmar and Nasser Khan Janjua led their respective delegations.

The Afghan team included Interior Minister Wais Barmak, National Dire­ctorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) chief Masoom Stanikzai and Ambassador Omar Zakhilwal.

The two sides held an in-depth exchange of views on matters pertaining to bilateral cooperation as well as the regional security situation. Their focus was on timely implementation of the recently agreed APAPPS.

Janjua reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening multifaceted cooperation with Afghanistan in all spheres of mutual interest, including political, diplomatic, military, intelligence, trade, cultural and people-to-people contacts.

Before the talk, Atmar tweeted both sides would have a detailed discussion on peace, counterterrorism and regional issues.
