Qayumi, Aziz confer on building rail & road linkages

May 28, 2018 - 10:37

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon have been urged to focus on building road and railway linkages to boost their exports.

Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Sartaj Aziz issued the call during talks with an Afghan delegation in Islamabad on Sunday.

Dr. Humayun Qayumi, chief advisor on infrastructure and technology to President Ashraf Ghani, led the visiting team.

Aziz believed better regional connectivity would spur growth and development. Pakistan was ready to play a meaningful role in terms of extended cooperation on multi-sectoral avenues.

The two sides discussed avenues of economic cooperation, trade, energy and connectivity. Aziz said the Afghans deserved rapid improvement in economic and social sectors.

Both the sides agreed to hold meetings of sub-working groups on a regular basis to fast-track economic and development initiatives.
