Bishkek concerned at intensifying terror in Afghanistan

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Kyrgyzstan has voiced concern at the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistaninfo-icon, backing efforts at stabilising the situation in the war-torn country.

Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Nurlan Abdrakhmanov, addressing a meeting of the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group in Beijing on Monday, called for early restoration of peace in Afghanistan.

Deputy foreign ministers from Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistaninfo-icon, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan were in attendance, the Trend news agency reported.

Ways of reaching a settlement in Afghanistan, stabilising the situation in and around the country and establishing cooperation between the SCO and Kabul came up for discussion.

Abdrakhmanov called for stepping cooperation with Afghan authorities at the expert level and together with interested international partners.
