FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Population Registration Department (PRD) in northeastern Badakhshan province has accused local security departments of not cooperating in the transfer of Tazkera distribution teams from one site to another.

Habib Rahman, PRD director in Badakhshan, told Pajhwok Afghan News in line with agreement reached between the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), PRD and the Interior Ministry, the concerned authorities were bound to cooperate with PRD teams.

“The Hajjinfo-icon and Religious Affairs Department should cooperate with us in awareness building, this cooperation cannot be seen in districts and in majority areas, powerful individuals dictate Tazkera distributing teams,” he said.

The PRD head did not name the individuals not cooperating with his administration and the assigned teams.

Tazkeras are being distributed to people by 60 teams --- six in Faizabad, the provincial capital --- and the remaining in districts since April 14.

So far 16,153 Tazkeras have been distributed to men and 23,361 Tazkeras to womeninfo-icon in Badakhshan.

Governor’s spokesman Naik Mohammad Nazari said it was the responsibility of security institutions to ensure safety of Tazkera distributing teams in the country.
