KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): In the build-up to their historic Test match against India in Bengaluru, Afghan players are all poised to begin training at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy (ACA).

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the academy is located 12 kilometres from the stadium. “They are coming from Sunday. to be training at my academy,” the facility owner  said.

Sportstar quoted RP Easwaran, father of Bengal cricketer Abhimanyu Easwaran, as saying the Afghans had not sought in-house trainers. They will only train at the academy.

Umesh Patwal, Afghanistaninfo-icon’s coaching staff member, finalised the training venue for the tourists. “Patwal was here and he saw the academy. They will start practising around 9:30am till 12 pm.”

The visiting cricketers -- who started training in two batches on arrival -- would train here as long as they stay in Dehradun, Easwaran added.

He said Test players would train in the morning and the T20 squad in the evening. Asghar Stanikzai, Mohammad Shahzad, Rashid Khan, Mujeed Zadran and Mohammad Nabi are part of both teams.
