OIC chief calls for Afghan peace negotiations

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) chief on Monday condemned the suicide attack on a gathering of more than 2000 scholars in Kabul.

Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen expressed his condolences to the government and people of Afghanistaninfo-icon and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

In a statement, he said the Muslim Ummahinfo-icon had been deeply disappointed by the lack of progress and response from the Afghan opposition to the government's repeated offers of peace negotiations.

He once again urged Afghanistan's neighbours and the international community to continue exerting influence on the warring parties and redouble efforts to initiate dialogue and a peaceful settlement.
