KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon's first practice session ahead of their Test debut against India had to be curtailed because of rain on Sunday.

The visitors, who arrived at NCA on time and started practising at 2pm, had to wind up their nets 45 minutes before the scheduled time, PTI reported.

It said the historic encounter, starting from June 14, itself could bet by rain, as wet conditions expected during for a day or two. But stadium is equipped sub-air subsurface aeration and a vacuum-powered drainage system.

“Afghanistan’s players looked in good shape as they batted and bowled in the presence of their support staff led by Coach Phil Simmons,” the report added.

Asghar Stanikzai, Mohammad Shahzad, Mohammad Nabi and Rahmat Shah had a confident session. Spinners Rashid Khan and Mujeebur Rahman also practiced.
