KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Skipper Asghar Stanikzai says Afghanistaninfo-icon’s maiden Test match against India is a moment of pride for the team, as indeed the whole nation.

"This was Afghanistan's dream. The people who have been laughing at us for ten years now come to congratulate us,” he said in an interview ahead of the match, starting from tomorrow.

Afghanistan had become a Test team playing India in their historic encounter, he told Cricbuzz.  For his side and the people of Afghanistan, the event represented a proud time, he said.

"We just try to enjoy the game and play it as freely as possible. And in the Afghanistan team, we love playing with that sort of freedom. I think that's the Afghan culture," he remarked.

Stanikzai, who used to watch Sri Lankan all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya in his youth, said all his brothers played the game but he did not much attention to cricket then.
