KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): India’s wicket-keeper acknowledges that Afghanistaninfo-icon have several talented spinners, but his side’s experience in all formats of the game cannot be downplayed.

"The kind of improvement they (Afghans) have shown in white ball cricket has been phenomenal. There is no reason why they can't do it in red ball cricket,” Dinesh Karthik said.

In an interview on Tuesday, he tended to question politely Afghan skipper Asghar Stanikzai’s assertion of having an edge over India in the spin department.

Indian spinners were way ahead of T20 sensations like Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Zadran, believed Karthik, who argued the Indians had a lot of experience something that could not be easily bought.

While commending Afghanistan’s rise to Test status, he said not many knew they also played cricket. Despite the kind of turmoil the Afghans experience, they had inspired people with their performances, he added.

The 33-year-old stumper noted the Afghans were determined to beat all the odds with little infrastructure that had. He hoped the upcoming Afghans would play a lot of Test cricket in the days ahead.

"Clearly all their spinners put together wouldn't have played that many matches that Kuldeep Yadav (24 first-class matches) would have played in four-day cricket," Karthik said.
