KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah says although the Talibaninfo-icon have shown utter disregard for civilian lives, door for negotiations will be kept open. 

In a free-wheeling interview with Deutsche Welle, he listed security and educationinfo-icon for girls as two priorities for the national unity government.

"Taliban are already defeated. Their ideals are rejected, their ideology is rejected, and the fact is their way of life is rejected by an absolute majority of the people," he claimed.

A string of attacks on voter registration centers have made the start to the election process bloody, highlighting persistent security concerns in the country.

The CEO said: "Our focus has to be on credible elections, the upcoming parliamentary elections and the district council elections and also the presidential elections."

Asked if he would be running again for the presidential slot, Abdullah replied he had not made up his mind yet. 

About corruption and human rights abuses, he said: "Nobody had promised Afghanistaninfo-icon will be paradise as a result of the two, three years of the government...."

Asked whether he was proud of detainee torture, Abdullah said: "Nobody could be proud of this. But I can assure you that certain strong measures have been taken."
