Talks only option with warring parties, says HPC

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): There is no way out of the conflict except peace talks between the warring parties to bring to an end the long sufferings of the Afghan people, said the High Peace Councilinfo-icon on Friday, insisting on extension in the ongoing truce.

In a statement issued in connection with Eid, the peace body congratulated the Afghans on celebrating the first day of religious festival Eidul Fitr that marks the end of Ramadaninfo-icon. The HPC about the government-Talibaninfo-icon ceasefire hoped the bilateral move would end up as a step forward in achieving lasting peace and entering direct talks.

“For both the parties there is no way other than talks led and owned by the people of Afghanistaninfo-icon to end the conflict. The council said the people of Afghanistan had long been enduring violence and were united in their voice for peace.

The peace body said every individual should discharge his/her human and religious responsibility by raising voices for peace and such voices be respected.
