Saudi Arabia hails Afghan govt’s peace efforts

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Saudi Arabia has said it supports the Afghan government efforts at ending the ongoing conflict in their country and praise ceasefire with the armed opponents, an official said on Tuesday.

Qader Shah, head of the National Security Council’s strategic relations, told Pajhwok Afghan News that National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar and his Saudi counterpart talked over the telephone today.

They talked about the Saudi, US, UAE and Afghanistaninfo-icon NSA level meetings and decisions made during those meetings.

Last month’s four-nation NSA level talks in Washington DC focused on the Afghanistan peace process and security cooperation.

Saudi NSA Saleh Al Ghafeli termed the Afghan government peace efforts and ceasefire with the Talibaninfo-icon during Eid festival as vital for regional peace and stability.

Al Ghafeli hailed the Afghan government ‘unforgettable’ sacrifices in the war against terror and for establishment of peace.

He dubbed Afghan government efforts for prosperity of the Muslim ummahinfo-icon as important.

Regional issues and security matters were also discussed during the telephonic conversation.
