Daesh behead alleged govt spy in Jawzjan

Jun 21, 2018 - 23:43

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Daesh militants beheaded a quinquagenarian man for allegedly spying on them for the government in Darzab district of northern Jawzjan province on Thursday, police said.

The 55-year-old, Abdul Wahab, had been kidnapped by Daesh or so-called Islamic State gunmen some time back from the district center of Darzab and beheaded him on Thursday, said Jawzjan’s deputy police chief Col. Abdul Hafeez Hashmi.

He said Abdul Wahab was actual resident of northern Sar-i-Pul province. The Daesh rebels killed him in Sar Dara area, a stronghold of the group, for allegedly passing on information to the government against them.

Meanwhile, a member of the Jawzjan provincial council, Halima Sadaf, said the real name of the beheaded person was Ibrahim who the Daesh militants captured while passing information to security forces.

She said Ibrahim’s severed head was found by local residents at about 9am Thursday, but there was no information about his remains.

It comes three months after Daesh beheaded an 11-year-old boy over taking food to security forces.
