KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon border officials exchanged security personnel in the Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province on Thursday, an official said.

Afghan Border police official Sharif Gharzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that Pakistan forces handed over a soldier and an army trainee who were arrested before Eid to Afghan forces.

The Afghan army personnel were identified as Hayatullah and Latifullah. They had been taken into custody in Muslim Bagh and Pishin areas by Pakistani security forces a few months ago, according to Pakistani media.

Latifullah belongs to the Afghan National Army and Hayatullah is from the border security forces. Both had crossed into Pakistan and were arrested by FC.

The serving ANA and Afghan Border Police members were returned on humanitarian grounds as a goodwill gesture.

Gharzai said two Pakistani policemen who had strayed into Afghanistan were also handed over to the Pakistani side.
