KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A former water and energy minister has been appointed as senior advisor to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, an official said on Monday.

Ali Ahmad Usmani was sacked as energy minister before Eid but the CEO ordered him to continue his job. He signed a contract with a Chinese company after being fired by President Ashraf Ghani.

A government source on Monday confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News about the appointment of Usmani as advisor to CEO. After his sacking, the ex-minister’s office was sealed.

He was not allowed to enter the ministry, according to insiders. But other sources say he has been attending his office even after his dismissal.

One source confided to Pajhwok the then minister stopped going to the ministry after Eidul Fitr.

Meanwhile, Syed Ahmad Shah Sadaat has also quit as deputy minister of information technology. On his Facebook page, Sadaat wrote he could not continue in his office due to certain problems.

However, the deputy minister explained he would continue his job till the president accepted his resignation.
