KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon have rejected the ongoing civic movements for peace and stability in the country as ‘a foreign conspiracy’ to legitimize the presence of foreign forces.

Recently, a group of people from southern Helmand province walked for hundreds of kilometers to reach Kabul. While on Monday, a group of Afghan refugees arrived in Kabul from Peshawar on foot and another similar group started walking to Kabul from eastern Kunar province today.

But Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement said during the past 17 years, foreigners had used different tactics to legitimize their presence and for this purpose they created the High Peace Councilinfo-icon.

“The old US conspiracy is given a new face, this time they are spending money on neutral people in form of erecting peace tents and other movements”, the statement read.

The activists from Helmand have been staging a sit-in front of the United Nations Assistance Mission (UNAMA) in Kabul.

The Taliban said the purpose of all these efforts was to deviate people from their legitimate cause and nothing was talked about foreign forces pullout in these movements.

The peace activists and the government have not yet commented about the Taliban’s reaction.
