KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The ongoing war has displaced the highest number of people (22,249) from Faryab province, followed by Kunduz where 19,754 individual have been driven from homes, a UN agency said on Tuesday.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said displacements this year had been reported from 33 out of 34 provinces.

A total of 330 displaced people moved to Kabul from insecure districts in Logar, Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak and Kunduz provinces, according to Reiefweb.

A total of 134,362 people were verified as displaced by conflict in 2018, shows OCHA’s Displacement Tracking System (DTS). This is up by just over 1,600 people compared to the previous week.

Renewed fighting over control of several villages in Khwaja Sabzposh district of Faryab has likely displaced families. However, specific reports from the ground are not yet available.

“More than 3,000 people have been displaced within Nangarhar due to insecurity and intimidation by armed groups. Humanitarian partners are preparing needs assessments.”
