Taliban’s Dara-i-Sauf district official arrested

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon-designated chief for Dara-i-Sauf district of northern Samangan province has been arrested by Afghan security forces in Balkh province, officials said Thursday.

Officials in northern Balkh province said the Taliban’s shadow district chief was arrested in Kishindih district of Balkh late on Wednesday.

Balkh police chief Ikram Samay identified the detainee to Pajhwok Afghan News as Mullahinfo-icon Basir who was arrested during an operation.

A bodyguard of Basir was also detained along with two weapons, said Samay, who accused Basir of being behind many terrorist attacks against Afghan forces in Balkh and Samangan provinces.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
