Taliban growing presence worries Ghor residents

FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): Some residents of Shahrak and Dolina districts in western Ghorinfo-icon province have deeply concerned over the deteriorated security situation and increasing terrorist attacks.

Mohammad Shah Hidar, a resident of the Firozkoh, the provincial capital, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Talibaninfo-icon were just 30-kilometer from Ferozkoh.

This situation made the residents worried and urged the government to pay strong attention to the issue.

He further added the Taliban insurgents have reached to Khwajagan and Ashtar khan areas and they may penetrate to Ferozkoh anytime.

 Meanwhile, a number of the provincial council (PC)’s members expressed their concern over collapsed of several districts to Taliban one after another and claimed dozens of families had been displaced due the fresh clashes and warned against dangerous situation if clearing operations not launched.

Abdul Hamid Nataqi, the provincial council (PC)’s member, had expressed similar views about the security situation and added the displaced families had been living in bad situation.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed provincial police chief, Maj. Gen. Abdul Qayyum Safi assured to improve the security situation by taking strict measures. He added rounding up illegal arms would be his top priority.
