PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Thirty-seven Talibaninfo-icon militants have been killed and 10 others wounded during ground and air operations in the Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Shahpur Ahmadzai told Pajhwok Afghan News 20 fighters were killed and four others wounded during an offensive in the Alozai locality of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, late on Monday night.

The operation continued until morning, with the air force supporting ground troops, the police spokesman said.

Also on Monday night, 17 insurgents were eliminated and six others wounded in clearing operations in the Aab Paran locality of Mohammad Agha district. Ahmadzai had no information about security forces’ causalities.

Haris, a resident of the area, confirmed that an airstrike hit a house. However, he had no idea about causalities.

Hasibullah Stanikzai, the provincial council’s chief, called the clearing operation a demand of the people. The offensive would have a positive impact on area security, he hoped.
