GHAZNI (Pajhwok): Three children have been killed and seven others wounded as a result of two separate roadside bomb blasts in the Gilan district of southern Ghazni province, the district chief said Friday.

The Gilan district chief, Mohammad Karim Gilanwal, told Pajhwok Afghan News that children were playing when a roadside bomb exploded in Shinkai area on Friday before noon, killing three children and wounding four others.

He said the wounded children were in critical condition and were shifted to the central hospital in Ghazni City, the provincial capital.

An earlier blast in Zabit Qala area of Gilan district wounded three children, Gilanwal said, adding the victims were aged between 10 and 15 years.

A resident of Shinkai area, Noorullah, confirmed the blast which he said occurred when the children were playing.

Local officials accused the Talibaninfo-icon of emplacing the explosive devices. However, there has been no word from the insurgents about the blasts.
