HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Damage to a bridge connecting five districts have made life difficult for the local residents in the Shindand district of western Herat province.

Situated in Wazirabad locality, the bridge according to Gul Ahmad, a resident of the area, had been in bad condition since long time.

During snowy and rainy seasons, he said, people and vehicle could not use the bridge and residents of five districts stayed disconnected.

Sadiq, another resident of Shindand, said: “The Bridge had been damaged since long and the locals don’t feel safe while moving on it.”

Toor Mohammad Zarifi, a tribal elder also expressed concern over the dangerous condition of the bridge and said it connected the residents of Shindand, Zerkoh, Pushkoh, Koh Zour and Zawal.

But Mohammad Sidiqui, head of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department said they received no complain regarding the damage of Wazirabad bridge.

He said residents of Shindand can request the reconstructioninfo-icon of the bridge so the government would allocate budget for it in the next year.
