Herat: Taliban killed in blast, 2 photographers detained

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Two Talibaninfo-icon militants have been killed and as many journalists arrested in western Herat province, an official said on Sunday.

Jilani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Mullahinfo-icon Abdul Haleem was blown up along with an associate by their own bomb.

The explosion occurred in Kashk-i-Kohna district late on Saturday, the official said, blaming the militants for planning to plant the explosive device.

Separately, two photographers were arrested for taking bribes in Herat City, the provincial capital, the governor’s spokesman added.

He said the photographers were arrested while receiving 5,000 afghanis in return for getting an individual an Iranian visa. The detainees have been referred to judicial organs for investigations.
