No police patrols at night worries Kunduzis

No police patrols at night worries Kunduzis

Jul 08, 2018 - 18:46

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Some residents of this capital city of northern Kunduz province say insecurity has increased in the city due to lack of security check-points and no nighttime police patrol.

However, security officials claim otherwise, saying nighttime patrols are regularly carried out and that tight security measures have been put in place in the city.

Naved Ahmad, a resident of Kunduz City, told Pajhwok Afghan New that no check-posts and police patrols could be seen in the city after 9:00pm.

“Police are not seen at nighttime in the city, which has worried people,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim, another resident, held similar views. “People stay homes at night and do not come out as they fear robbers.”

A number of other residents expressed similar views about the issue.

In this regard, provincial council member Amrudin Wali said except the Chawak area, police check-points could be seen nowhere in the city.

He said: “I along with a number of reporters came till the Chawak area and we saw no police around the city, this is a huge concern for public.”

He urged the government to take measures and assure peoples security in the city.

But security officials rejected these allegations. Police spokesman Inamudin Rahmani told Pajhwok that security check-points existed in the entire city.

He said the pubic representative might have visited areas where there was no need to have security check-points. He assured security at both night and daytime.
