GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A district police chief was killed along with four other police during clashes that also left 13 Talibaninfo-icon militants dead in southern Ghazni province, an official said Tuesday.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that insurgents launched coordinated attacks in Khogyani, Andar, Khwaja Omari and Muqar districts’ security check-posts late Monday night.

He said the Khogyani district police chief, Munir Ahmad, was among four police killed and three others wounded during the overnight attacks. He said 13 Taliban attackers were also killed and 20 others wounded.

Ikramullah, a resident of the area, also confirmed the clash between security forces and Taliban, but he had no information about casualties.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid on his social media account claimed the fighters inflicted heavy causalities on security forces and captured several check-posts in Qarabagh and Andar districts late Monday night.
