KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Local residents on Sunday clashed with Pakistani militia forces in a border village in Zazai Maidan district of southeastern Khost province, with both the sides suffering casualties, officials said.

Abdul Basir Bina, Khost police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash broke out after a number of armed men attacked security posts in Mandati border area early in the morning.

He said the Afghan residents jumped into the battlefield in support of the Afghan security forces and both the sides used small and heavy weapons.

Governor’s spokesman, Talibinfo-icon Mangal, said three local people and seven attackers had been killed and some others wounded in the incident.

He said the attack was allegedly carried out by Pakistani militias from across the Durand Lineinfo-icon. But the incident needed investigation.

Meanwhile, Janmir Zazai, a provincial council member and resident of Zazai Maidan district, said the attackers were in ordinary clothes but local residents believed they were Pakistani militias.

No militant group or Pakistaninfo-icon forces have so far commented on the incident.
