Jul 16, 2018 - 14:01

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Seven Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel manning a check-post have been killed in a Talibaninfo-icon attack in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed the ALP checkpoint in the Marko area of Ghanikhel district late on Sunday night.

He said seven ALP men were killed and the insurgents also suffered casualties. However, the exact casualty figures are not yet known.

A credible source, meanwhile, said the militants also took away all weapons and ammunition of the ALP personnel.

Dr. Najibullah Kamawal, director of the public healthinfo-icon department, confirmed receiving seven bodies from the site of the clash.

Separately, police seized a suicide vest and ammunition from a vehicle in the same district on Sunday, Khogyani concluded.
