KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Indian Punjab chief minister has underlined the need for greater security for minority Sikhs in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Captain Amarinder Singh made the demand in a letter to Minister for Externalinfo-icon Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday

The Tribune quoted Singh as urging Swaraj to advise officials in her ministry and the Indian High Commission in Afghanistan to take effective steps in this regard.

Singh expressed his concern at recent Kabul bombings and increasing terrorist attacks in Afghanistan. The constant strife had left Sikhs vulnerable, he wrote.

He asked Swaraj to pursue measures to ensure that violence-stricken Sikh families were offered security, relief and rehabilitation.

On July 1, 19 people were killed in a suicide bombing that targeted a convoy of Hindus and Sikhs on their way to Jalalabad to meet President Ashraf Ghani.
