District police chief among five wounded in Balkh firefight

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): One policeman has been killed and a district police chief wounded during a clash with Talibaninfo-icon in northern Balkh province, an official said on Saturday.

Amir Sha Khan, Sholgar district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents stormed a security check-post in Qizal Qadogh locality late on Friday night.

He said the district police chief, Syed Arif, was wounded along with three policemen and two uprising members. A policeman was killed in the gunbattle.

He said the wounded security personnel were evacuated to hospital and their healthinfo-icon condition is said to be stable. The Taliban have so far said nothing about the incident.
