French envoy visits refugee camps in Nimroz

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): French ambassador to Afghanistaninfo-icon has traveled to southwestern Nimroz province to assess the situation of Afghan refugees who recently repatriated from Iran, an official said on Tuesday.

Haji Gul Safi, head of the Refugees and Repatriation Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News French Envoy François Richier on Tuesday arrived in Nimroz on an official visit and visited refugees’ camps near the Iranian border.

“We informed the ambassador about the problems and issues faced by the refugees and the envoy pledged that in first stage two psychiatrics will be sent to Nimroz for refugees who suffered psychological problems and drug addicts and in the second stage decision about further assistance will be taken.” said Safi.

During a meeting with Governor Eng. Mohammad Sami, the French envoy discussed the expansion of assistance to Nimroz.

Sami termed the role of NGOs and other organization in the refugees’ affairs as vital and assured the envoy of transparency and good governance.
