Taliban shadow district chief among 5 killed in Farah infighting

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): At least five Talibaninfo-icon insurgents including the group’s shadow district chief for Khak-I-Safid district of western Farah province have been killed and five others wounded during an infighting, officials said Tuesday.

Farah governor’s spokesman, Naser Mehri, told Pajhwok Afghan News that fighters of the Taliban shadow district chief for Khak-I-Safid, Haji Khairo Jan and another Taliban commander, Mullahinfo-icon Mohammad Daud engaged in an armed clash in Nangabad village of the district on Monday evening.

He said Haji Khairo Jan and two of his fighters and as many fighters of Mullah Mohammad Daud were killed and five others from both sides wounded in the clash.

A resident of Nangabad village, who wished not to be named, also said that five people were killed and five others wounded from both sides in the clash. The source did not provide more details.

Taliban surrounded the village and try to disarm the fighters of these commanders, he added.

Taliban did not comment yet on the incident.
