On election day, Pakistan curbs refugees’ movement

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): As Pakistaninfo-icon goes to the polls today (Wednesday), the Peshawar administration has imposed curbs on the movement of Afghan refugees.

The refugees have been asked to stay confined to their camps on election day, a district official said, adding the ban was a temporary measure.

Firing into the air, the use of tinted glasses and the entry of unregistered vehicles into the city have also been banned as part of security for the polls.

In southwestern Balochistan province, the Chaman border crossing has been shut for three days to ensure the peaceful conduct of elections.

"No Afghan national would be allowed to enter into Pakistan during elections," DawnNews quoted an unnamed security official as saying.
