Hundreds of walkie-talkies seized in Nangarhar raids

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Intelligence forces have detained five suspected militants and recovered nearly 1000 walkie-talkies during separate raids in eatern Nangarhar province, an official said Wednesday.

The detainees included three Daesh or Islamic state (IS) rebels, two Talibaninfo-icon insurgents, one kidnapper and another one who possessed the walkie-talkies.

The detainees and the equipment seized were shown to media persons during in a press conference in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, said one individual named Rahatullah had been arrested along with 945 walkie-talkies by National Directorate of security (NDSinfo-icon) personnel in Behsud district.

He said the walkies-talkies were meant for supplying to insurgents for using in terrorist activities.

Separately, the NDS personnel captured three Daesh rebels who included Asadullah, in charge of carrying womeninfo-icon to rebels in Khogyani district.

 The spy-network also detained two Taliban militants in Ghanikhel district and a third one in Jalalabad city, he added.

On the other hand, Mohammad Amin, a kidnap gang leader, was also arrested by NDS personnel during a raid in Rodat district, Khogyani concluded.
