Relations with Afghanistan may sour, warns Sherpao

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Relations with Afghanistaninfo-icon may sour under the incoming government of the Pakistaninfo-icon Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party, fears a senior Pakistani politician.

Led by former cricket legend Imran Khan, PTI has emerged as the largest party in the July 25 general election, It is poised to establish governments in Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Sherpao said on Thursday there were apprehensions that novice political leaders would not be able to deal with the challenges being faced Afghanistan.

Defeated at the polls, Sherpao rejected the results of the general election. People’s mandate had been stolen, he claimed, suggesting that the vote had been rigged.

The Pakhtuns, already been victims of bullets, had been deprived of the representation through the ballot, he said, deplored the political marginalization of the community.

Apart from Sherpao, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Asfandyar Wali Khan, Maulana Fazlur Rahman and several other veteran Pakhtun leaders failed to find their way to the parliament.
